Objectives and Tasks of the Academic Accreditation Department

Introduction:

The Academic Accreditation Department at the University of Gezira is one of the vital departments that seeks to establish the principles of quality and to place the University at the forefront of universities committed to global quality standards and excellence in all its academic programs and institutional services. The Academic Accreditation Department works to achieve the Deanship’s objectives related to preparing, monitoring, and implementing the necessary plans to ensure academic performance quality and to obtain academic and institutional accreditation at the level of the University’s faculties institutes, and units. It also supports and assists all faculties in accomplishing tasks related to local and international academic accreditation and contributes to spreading a culture of accreditation.

Excellence and leadership in ensuring the quality of higher education, and achieving local and international accreditation standards that make the department’s outputs recognized and globally competitive.

Mission:

To ensure the application of quality and academic accreditation standards in all academic programs through continuous evaluation, curriculum development, faculty training, and building a culture of quality in which all University faculties and units participate. The goal is to graduate a professionally and academically qualified student who meets labor market needs.

 

Objectives of the Academic Accreditation Department:

  1. To disseminate and consolidate a culture of programmatic and institutional accreditation across all University institutions.
  2. To achieve continuous improvement of University performance by building a culture of self-evaluation and continuous development
  3. To focus on and follow up programs that ensure educational learning outcomes that meet labor market and community needs.
  4. To develop the educational process at the University by providing support and advisory services in quality and academic accreditation.
  5. To obtain institutional and programmatic academic accreditation for the University, and to renew it from local and international accreditation bodies.
  6. To achieve local, regional, and international academic accreditation for the University’s undergraduate programs.
  7. To achieve local, regional, and international academic accreditation for the University’s postgraduate programs.
  8. To enhance the University’s credibility through benchmarking with leading universities.
  9. To work on establishing academic accreditation standards at the University.

Tasks of the Academic Accreditation Department:

  1. Planning and Organizational Tasks
  1. Supervising Self-Evaluation by preparing the Self-Study Reports [SSR] for the University and all its programs.
  2. Providing technical support, consultations, and training to the University’s faculties and administrations in applying local and international quality and academic accreditation systems, in cooperation with the University Development Center.
  1. Monitoring and Evaluation Tasks:
  2. Following up the periodic application of accreditation-granting bodies’ standards by disseminating them.
  3. Conducting internal review visits to the faculties and programs to simulate the official accreditation visit.
  4. Preparing follow-up reports on the progress of institutional and programmatic academic accreditation from technical and financial perspectives.
  5. Building quality management system tools [surveys, indicators, benchmarking, etc.] and implementing them.
  6. Measuring academic and institutional performance indicators in cooperation with the Deanship of Quality Assurance and Accreditation departments and units.
  7. Coordination Tasks:
  8. Coordinating between academic departments and administrative units to fulfill accreditation requirements.
  9. Communicating with external accreditation bodies and arranging field visits for reviewers.
  • Reviewing course and program specifications to ensure that they align with targeted learning outcomes and the requirements of the accreditation body of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research
  1. Documentation Tasks:
  2. Building a database and electronic guides for all required documents and evidence, in cooperation with the Computer Center.
  • Archiving internal and external review reports and improvement plans in cooperation with the University’s Documentation and Institutional Excellence Unit.
