Public Relations Department
The Public Relations Department is one of the most diverse and comprehensive departments in the Faculty of Media, offering students a wide range of disciplines at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. These include public relations, organizational communication, crisis management, image, reputation, and identity management, social marketing, marketing communications and advertising, international media, internet and communication technologies, and other subfields. This diversity highlights the richness of the academic knowledge the department provides to its students through its distinguished faculty.
The department recognizes the numerous obstacles and challenges it faces in the competitive landscape. Therefore, it strives to maintain its leading position in education, scientific research, and community service in the coming years, while simultaneously developing the services it offers its students in technical and training fields, both within and outside the college, to prepare them for the demands of the job market.
The Public Relations Department also familiarizes students with the organizational and administrative aspects of practicing public relations, including its objectives, organizational structures, its organizational position, and the selection of its personnel. The student is also introduced, through the courses in this specialization, to the aspects of managing advertising activities across all relevant entities, and the economic and marketing factors that influence them.
In addition, a group of specialized faculty members introduce the student to the methods of editing, producing, and directing printed media materials for newspapers, publications, and brochures. This specialization also covers the stages of implementing outdoor and poster advertisements and their use in public relations programs. It also addresses printing methods and types, the suitability of each type for different forms of printed media, and the technical and practical aspects of advertising.
Furthermore, this specialization enhances the student’s understanding of how an organization achieves its goals by building and maintaining positive and productive relationships with its target audience, both internally and externally, as well as learning how to manage crises that may arise within companies. Vision of the Public Relations Department:
With the evolution of the business environment and modern organizational management, and the emergence of electronic communication, the field of public relations has undergone significant developments. The Public Relations Department strives to keep pace with these advancements and address the accompanying challenges by preparing graduates capable of navigating these new realities, mastering the new local and global work environments, and possessing the skills and attributes that qualify them to excel in public relations firms, banks, government institutions, and in the fields of digital marketing and integrated marketing communications.
The department’s vision also stems from ensuring that its graduates benefit from the diverse fields covered by public relations by providing them with varied professional training from experienced experts in the field. This will equip them with the qualities of competent graduates who can successfully compete in the job market, while simultaneously maintaining the Public Relations Department’s leading position among other public relations departments in media colleges in Sudan.
The Public Relations Department’s Mission:
The Public Relations Department’s mission stems from its commitment to preparing graduates proficient in evolving public relations fields and well-versed in modern strategies. Graduates are expected to be adept at utilizing new communication and information technologies and applying them across various public relations domains, both online and offline. Furthermore, they are expected to excel in institutional work, adhering to high professional ethics and agreed-upon codes of conduct.
The department also aspires to contribute to the development of media and professional institutions and the local community by employing qualified graduates and offering training programs in public relations and successful advertising design.
The Public Relations Department’s Strategic Objectives:
• To prepare a select group of male and female students and researchers who possess theoretical, practical, and professional skills in public relations and are knowledgeable in various aspects of corporate, institutional, and organizational promotion, impactful advertising design, and the development of digital communication and media systems.
• To support scientific research by conducting workshops, conferences, and seminars, and by preparing academic theses that address emerging topics in the field of public relations. • Serving Sudanese and Arab society by addressing social problems and attempting to resolve them through encouraging graduation project students in the department to create integrated social marketing campaigns and offer solutions, proposals, and recommendations to confront these problems.
The Public Relations Department specializes in training competent and qualified graduates in various fields of public relations, including diverse public relations activities and their management. The department also works to establish the scientific value of the curriculum in this specialization. Upon completion of the department’s academic program, students will be able to manage administrative affairs and various public relations activities efficiently and effectively, and work as effective public relations managers or officers in institutions or workplaces.
