Department of Arabic Language and Islamic Studies

The department offers a range of academic programs that meet students’ needs and keep pace with the demands of the job market, including:

• The Arabic Language and Literature program focuses on the study of grammar, rhetoric, classical and modern literature, literary criticism, and linguistic analysis.

• The Islamic Studies program includes Quranic sciences, Hadith, jurisprudence, theology, creed, and the Prophet’s biography.

• The Graduate Studies program offers a Master’s degree in Arabic Language or Islamic Studies, with specialized research tracks.

• General courses are offered to students from other colleges to enhance their language skills and Islamic values.

Department of English Language
The department’s academic programs have historically included undergraduate programs (Bachelor’s and Intermediate Diploma) offered both on-campus and distance learning.

More recently, since 2000, graduate programs have been added (Master’s degree with coursework and thesis, and research only; Postgraduate Diploma with coursework and thesis; and a PhD program).

Department of Chemistry and Biology
The department awards a Bachelor of Education (Honours) specializing in Chemistry and Biology in four years, under the auspices of the College of Graduate Studies.

The department offers:

1. A Postgraduate Diploma in Chemistry.

2. Master of Science in Chemistry (Coursework and Thesis).

3. PhD in Chemistry (Research Only).

Department of Geography and History
The department offers academic programs at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, aiming to develop qualified professionals in teaching, research, and community service.

– Undergraduate:

• The department awards a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Education, specializing in Geography and History.

• Graduate Studies:

• Graduate programs in the department began in 1998.

Department of Physics and Mathematics
The department awards a Bachelor of Education (Honours) in the following specializations:

– Mathematics

– Physics

Department of Library and Information Science

1. Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Library and Information Science

2. Postgraduate Diploma in Library and Information Science

3. Master’s in Library and Information Science (Coursework and Thesis) + Master’s by Research Only.

4. Doctorate in Library and Information Science.

Department of Educational Sciences
This department teaches courses in curriculum and teaching methods, educational technology, and educational psychology to undergraduate students across all college disciplines. It equips them with the necessary educational and scientific foundations to practice the teaching profession effectively and competently. The department also offers advanced courses for postgraduate diploma and master’s students, covering areas such as curriculum and teaching methods, measurement and evaluation, psychological counseling, and educational technology. These programs are a vital resource for preparing qualified educational personnel who contribute to the development of education and scientific research in various state institutions.

The department offers Bachelor’s, Postgraduate Diploma, Master’s, and Doctoral programs. The department has continuously developed its programs, and many of its students have graduated from its various programs both within and outside Sudan. The programs are:
1. Bachelor’s (joint program with other disciplines in the college).

2. Postgraduate Diploma (joint program with the Department of Educational Sciences).

3. Master’s program in Educational Technology.

4. Doctoral program in Educational Technology.
