The department focuses on the study of the Earth and its natural and human phenomena, as well as the historical events that have shaped national identity. Its aim is to prepare specialized personnel who bridge the gap between academic knowledge and practical application to serve society and promote sustainable development.
Mission:
• To prepare a scientifically and pedagogically qualified cadre in the fields of Geography and History, capable of teaching, producing knowledge, and conducting research on issues of development and national identity, while adhering to academic and professional values.
• To affirm and strengthen the nation’s identity and its cultural heritage.
• To provide academic and practical training for students and teachers to teach at the general education level and in other fields.
• To actively contribute to the advancement and development of the educational process in Sudan.
• To supervise the training and qualification of students studying at the college in the field of education.
• To instill scientific and professional concepts and skills related to the disciplines of History and Geography.
• The department is unique in organizing scientific field trips for students, including visits to many Sudanese cities and archaeological sites.
• Engaging in cultural and social activities, in addition to an environmental role and commitment to cleanliness, planting, and other environmental programs.
Department’s Development and Progress:
The department has witnessed continuous development since its inception with the 17th cohort, and the efforts of the faculty and curriculum development have played a significant role in this progress.
Community Impact:
The department is actively serving the community, extending its role beyond the classroom to:
directly impacting the local and community environment through:
• Contributing to the preservation of local historical memory through field research that documents historical figures, events, and landmarks in the region.
• Building partnerships with governmental and community entities to provide consultations or support in geographical and historical matters.
• Organizing open scientific and cultural exhibitions and seminars that address environmental and historical issues and engage the local community in knowledge dissemination.
