Faculty of Education - Hasahesa-Department of Chemistry and Biology

The Department of Chemistry and Biology is a leading department within the Faculty of Education in Al-Hasahisa, possessing the academic and human resources that qualify it to lead education in the region and graduate competent students equipped with both pure and educational sciences. This addresses the shortage of chemistry and biology specialists in secondary schools, in addition to producing researchers who contribute to the advancement of the local and global environment through discoveries and problem-solving. The department has consistently awarded a Bachelor of Education (Honours) degree in Chemistry and Biology.

Since its establishment in 1994, the department has made significant contributions to all aspects of educational, social, and athletic life at both the state and national levels. Therefore, we will examine the journey of the Department of Chemistry and Biology at the Faculty of Education in Al-Hasahisa through the following points:

To achieve excellence in the fields of chemistry and biology and to produce highly qualified teachers with advanced scientific and professional skills to meet the needs of the community.

Mission:
To provide students with scientific and professional training in chemistry and biology by offering distinguished educational programs that meet quality standards and fulfill the demands of the job market. Department Objectives:

* To equip students with knowledge and skills in the fields of chemistry and biology, keeping pace with modern scientific advancements.

* To generate and produce knowledge.

* To enhance and develop academic performance.

* To ensure the university’s excellence and leadership.

* To establish new programs to keep pace with rapid scientific development.

* To prepare scientifically qualified professionals to meet the needs of society.

* To develop scientific and practical skills in line with the spirit of the times.

* To conduct academic research in the fields of chemistry and biology that serves society and the environment.

* To encourage scientific and educational research by strengthening communication with research institutions within the university and other institutions.

Growth and Development Trajectory:

This includes diligent and effective work in establishing the department, preparing laboratories (chemistry and biology labs), and providing the department with qualified personnel, including professors (at various academic ranks), technicians, staff, and workers. Laboratories:

The laboratories (chemistry and biology labs) were renovated through self-funding (chemicals, equipment, and laboratory tools) with contributions from schools, the Gezira Scheme, and the Standards and Metrology Organization.

The Department’s Community Role:

* As part of the department’s outreach to the community, particularly the academic community, the department provided training to primary and secondary school students from several schools in the area in the chemistry and biology labs.

* Department members participated in orphan sponsorship associations and kidney patient support groups.

* Participation in local sports activities.

* Recognition of outstanding students.

* Conducting training courses for all school levels in Al-Hasahisa locality.

The Department’s Contributions to the College:

The department has played a significant role in the afforestation of the Al-Hasahisa College of Education through student graduation research from the 19th graduating class to the present, as well as through the nursery production and planting of seedlings on campus. Every tree now on campus is known to have been planted by someone.
