Professor Haxin Yu from Pusan National University, Republic of Korea, praised with the highly technical skills of technicians and laboratory assistants in screening samples for soil-transmitted intestinal worms, intestinal schistosomiasis and urine sedimentation for urinary schistosomiasis. Hackness had participated in the training course for the national survey of schistosomiasis and worms organized by the Blue Nile National Institute of Communicable Diseases at the University of Gezira in cooperation with the Korean Organization for International Cooperation and the Federal Ministry of Health. The course, which will be held from January 15-18, targets 90 learners, including technicians, health officers and laboratory assistants, from the states of the White Nile, Kassala and Gezira. Head of the parasitology department at the institute Dr. Hassan Hamdi said that the course aims to train the cadres participating in the schistosomiasis survey to carry out various activities such as collecting samples, filling out questionnaires and laboratory diagnosis. The training course includes theoretical and practical training to deal with the community in data collection, quality control in dealing with medical samples and laboratory diagnosis.
