On the framework of the strategic partnership between the Safe Motherhood and Childhood Centre, at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Gezira, and Wad Medani Hospital for Obstetrics and Gynecology, in collaboration with the Sudanese American Medical Association (SAMA). The basic training course in cardiac and pulmonary resuscitation was held on 27 August at the Development of Medical Education and Research Centre at Al-Razi Campus, (18) trainees from the bachelor and diploma holders in nursing sciences, who are belonging to the medical staff and working at the Intensive Care in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology beside the Department of Anesthesiology in the hospital.
The Deputy General Director of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital, explained that the training course was a part of the initiative which adopted by University of Gezira, represented by the Safe Motherhood and Childhood Centre in cooperation with the Sudanese American Medical Association (SAMA), which has made an active contribution to the establishment of the Intensive Care Department at the Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital, pointing out at the development of the center that provides high-quality medical services to maintain the health condition of the patient and to reduce maternal mortality ratio, he stressed the importance of the training in this section. For his part, Dr. Yaser Mohammed Al-Hassan, praised the sustained efforts and support of the Sudanese American Medical Association (SAMA), and the collectors of Zakat and charity in the USA. As well as in Sudan through the implementation of several training courses for the Intensive Care Department and its active contribution by the Soba Center for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation of the University of Khartoum in cooperation with the initiative of University of Gezira and the Ministry of Health in the State, represented by the Hospital of Obstetrics and Gynecology. During the previous period, Soba Training Center had conducted three training courses on basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation at the Hospital of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Wad Medani.
Dr. Yaser, stressed his keenness to carry out the courses that concern the mother and the child until they enjoy better health, and expressed his thanks and appreciation to those who contributed to the training course. The head of the training delegation, Dr. Mohammed Suleiman Onsa, said that the participants who contributed in this work were trainees of the resuscitation at University of Khartoum and Soba Training Center in Khartoum. He pointed out that the number of trainers is about 7 trainers, they all from Sudan.
