About The Faculty
The Faculty of Medical Laboratory Sciences at the University of Gezira, Sudan, was established in 1998. The inaugural graduating class was designated as the 21st batch of the university. Located in the city of Wad Madani, it is one of the key faculties within the Al-Razi Complex.

Degrees Awarded
- Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) with Honors in Medical Laboratory Sciences: A 4-year program specialized in one of the departments listed above. A major advantage of this honors degree is that graduates who achieve an eligible grade can register directly for a Master’s program without the need for a qualifying or preparatory year.
- Diploma Program
- Master’s Degree (M.Sc.): Offered either via taught courses and supplementary research, or by research thesis only.
- Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.): Awarded by research.
Academic System & Evaluation
- Semester Structure: The academic calendar operates on a semester-based system, with each academic year divided into two main semesters.
- Block Courses: All curricula are delivered through specialized “Block Courses” (closed modules), encompassing both comprehensive theoretical knowledge and practical training in various branches of laboratory science.
- Specialization: Students choose their specific track/area of specialization during their final academic year.
- Evaluation: Student assessment is based on periodic continuous assessments and final examinations, combined with ongoing evaluations of practical and applied laboratory performance.
