The Vice Chancellor of the University of Gezira prof. Mohamed Taha Yousif, announced about the creation of a plan to establish faculties of Fine Arts, Music, Drama, and Physical Education based on a broad artistic and athletic heritage. Taha, upon meeting a delegation of sons of Wad Medani, headed by Abdel-Moneim Abdel-Aal and Khalid Beheiri and in the presence of the principle of the University Dr . Badr El-Din El-Sunni said that the December revolution provided wider opportunities to reflect on the future of the University and the state of Gezira, in a way that would achieve a promising future for the University and provide services to the citizens in the state. He called for preserving the gains of the revolution, noting that many institutions began to recover, explaning that the decision to end the retention of professors came after extensive study that revealed the presence of a large number of those who retired to the pension in some departments. He referred to the importance of utilizing the waste by recycling it and benefiting from it as an organic compound, noting that the University will send two of its professors to Malaysia to find out the Malaysian experience in this regard. For their part, the sons of Wad Madani called for the necessity of putting a solution to the suffering of the people in the issues of living and service issues, calling for the protection of the gains of the revolution by making use of the capabilities of the revolutionaries in censorship. Beheiri called for the necessity of media attention to the revolution’s issues and programs. For his part, Abdel-Moneim Abdel-Al demanded that the University should adopt a scientific conference to promote sport in the country and establish a faculty of physical education.
