The Vice Chancellor of the University of Gezira, Prof. Mohammed El-Sanousi Mohammed congratulated the employees of the University on the holy month of Ramadan, asking Allah to restore it with good and blessings and to accept fasting and night prayers. This came during the meeting of the Council of Deans No. 6/2018 AD, at Al-Nisheishiba Campus. With the presence of the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Dr. Mohammed Babiker Al-Awad, the Principal of the University, Dr. Malik Al-Na’eem, and a number of faculties deans and directors of administrations at the University.
The Vice Chancellor of the University presented a detailed report on the activities and events that took place during the last period, most notably the signing of a memorandum of understanding with the group of Saeed Lootah and participation in the training course in media production organized by the Faculty of Communication Sciences and the conclusion of the training course organized by the Goat Research Center in cooperation with the professional union of agricultural engineers entitled “Goat Care and Milk Processing“. The meeting with the National Students Welfare Fund in the presence of a number of administrations directors on the five-year plan between the University and the Fund.
The Principal of the University of Gezira presented a detailed report on the performance of the University, including publications and circulars pertaining to the administrative side and the official hours of work during the holy month of Ramadan, in addition to administrative affairs where the absence of envoys from the teaching staff who were exceeded the legal period. A meeting was held on the University of Gezira Renaissance Project and the reality of investment units in the University. The Savings and Social Development Bank was addressed to finance the egg-making machine for the initiative of University of Gezira for Urban Behaviour. As for the requirements of the month of Ramadan there has been provided sugar commodity for the teaching staff with 1000 sugar sacks and 4000 sugar sacks for employees and workers through the subsidiary body of the Workers’ Union.
The Secretary of Scientific Affairs, Dr. Adel Daif Allah Mohammed Abdullah explained that with the support of the Regional Forum of African Universities for Capacity Building in Agriculture, two workshops were held from the 5th to the 13th of June 2018, which entitled “Scientific writing and writing of research proposals for funding purposes.” The workshop was attended by professors from the universities of Khartoum, Kordofan and Peace “Member Universities in the Forum”. The RUFORUM provided six highly qualified trainees to carry out the training process, also a meeting was held on the distribution of grants from Higher Education in the Master’s and Doctorate, and the meeting was chaired by the Vice Chancellor of the University of Gezira.
Dr. Adam Daoud presented a report on the Faculty of Graduate Studies where he explained that the number of students who completed the extraction of their university numbers estimated 101 students and the number of 227 certificates were issued. The requirements of graduation for the graduate students 178 students, also a number of committees were held. As for conferences, there was the first food safety conference in Sudan under the slogan of “Food Safety, which concerns all of us”, under the title of “the current situation and the future prospects”, also the global scientific conference of the faculties and departments of the call for higher education institutions entitled: Islamic Call and its Higher Academic Institutions (challenges of reality and future aspirations), which was under the patronage of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. As for the report of the Deanship of Scientific Research includes scientific journals that have excellent publishing and the introduction of the University journals to the site of AJCL. Also, the electronic administration is actively pursuing the introduction of scientific journals on the University website in the new system OJS3 and the work is underway on setting a training plan.
Numbers of reports were also presented at the meeting which included: (Library deanship dealt with the progress of the performance and the report of students’ affairs, which included the administrative affairs of the Deanship and the National Students Welfare Fund, which explained the performance of some of the University campuses in the State).
