Computer engineering is an approach which embodies science and technology employed for designing, constructing and implementing all modern computing systems, software mechanisms and computer-control mechanisms. Computer engineering programs are viewed as a balanced coverage of disciplines comprising electrical engineering, electronics, computer science, information technology, computer engineering, computer-system design, built-in software, computer networks, as well as the interactions among these disciplines. This combination of sciences qualifies graduates to work in fields of computer systems ranging from the stage of software-hardware design to the implementation phase, which enables them to effectively contribute to the philosophy and primary goals of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, which aims to integrate science and theoretical knowledge with hand-on experience in order to stimulate industrial development and progress in our country.

        Following the widespread use of computers in various sectors, along with the university’s focus on scientific advancement and the qualification of its staff, the university, represented by the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, has sought to reinforce its status in this field. In the fourth quarter of 1994, the faculty deanship proposed the establishment of the Computer Engineering and Technology Department to meet the growing demands of computing, information technology, and communication with the outside world.
