A medical delegation from the University of Martin Luther in Germany visited University of Gezira to train more than 200 students of medicine and medical staff at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The dean of the faculty of medicine Dr. Mohammed El Amin said that this visit of the German delegation comes within the framework of the joint agreement signed between University of Gezira and Martin Luther University in Germany in 2008. It lasted for five years and was renewed for another five years. This year is the first year of the second stage of the age of the Agreement. Al-Ameen pointed out that the agreement provides for the training of medical staff at the undergraduate and postgraduate level in the fields of anesthesia, radiology and intensive care. He added that the delegation’s visit will last for five days in which physicians will participate in a training program and lectures by professors from Martin Luther University; Where the students were divided into two groups of anesthesia and intensive care, and the other cancer and radiation diseases, revealing that the number of students who will benefit from lectures more than (200) participants. In this context, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Gezira, Prof. Mohammed Al-Sanousi Mohammed, opened the lecture hall of Professor Dieter Wirltzeich Itchari to fight the infection in the basic skills lab in the Faculty of Medicine. The University launched its name on the hall in recognition of its continuous support for this lab with modern work aids and equipment’s and this is a recognition from the university to him. The lectures were attended by a number of students from the Faculties of Applied Medical Sciences and Medicine, the National Cancer Institute and a number of deputies Specialists from the National Council for Medical Specialties and students from the Universities of Shendi and the Faculty of Applied Medical Sciences. Al-Senoussi expressed his pleasure to visit the German medical staff at the University of Martin Luther to the University of Gezira to offer their expertise, praising their efforts in training medical students, medical sciences and students, and praising with the partnership between the two Universities.
