The National Institute of Desert Studies celebrated the international Day of Desertification with the presence of the Commissioner of Al- Daba Locality, the executive manager of the Locality, and the Director of UNESCO Chair.
The Director of the UNESCO Chair, Mubarak Abdul Rahman spoke about the strong relations that combine them with the Institute, which establishes a strong ground that allows a significant contribution to the service of the State.
While the Director of the Institute referred to the philosophy of the University in the service of society, studying the Sudanese environment to achieve its objectives in identifying important issues, conducting research and contributing to find solutions.
He pointed out to the instruction of the President of the Republic to the implementation of dams to build the buildings of the Institute in the city of Al- Daba, calling for the adoption of the formation of a committee to follow up the order.
The delegation met on the sidelines of the celebration program on the areas affected by the desertification and destructive encroachment in Al- Daba district, and they are keen to prepare a research project proposal and work as a research group to address this problem.
