The Faculty of Engineering and Technology at University of Gezira, represented by Prof. Salahuddin Mohammed Al-Arabi, signed on May 6th, a memorandum of understanding with Canar Telecommunications Company, represented by the Deputy Executive Manager of the Company, Engr. Abdullah Saeed Abdullah, in the presence of Engr. Ahmed Mohamed Hassan.
The memorandum included several aspects of fruitful cooperation and important items that are in the interest of the two parties, most notably the establishment of a Wi-Fi network at Al-Nisheishiba campus to benefit students and professors alike. In addition, the completion of the project of linking faculties with different campuses, the contribution of Canar was to provide the Faculty with communication devices to establish a training unit, a laboratory in order to benefit from the training of students.
The memorandum also included the need to coordinate with the network of Sudanese universities to contribute to the provision of the service of storing the data of scientific materials and references in the servers of large capacities, while the Faculty provides annual scholarships for the Master and PhD in communications engineering and networks to the engineers of Canar.
The idea of the contribution of the graduates of the Faculty in the useful projects to the disciplines and departments, each according to his/her specialization, and the benefit of the Faculty from its competencies who are deployed in companies and institutions was the initiative of the engineer Walid al-Haraldo (batch 16th), after the workshop to develop the curriculum of the Faculty which was held in Khartoum in 2015.
