State of Gezira, announced that it deserves to be the pioneering in the initiative of the President of the Republic to achieve Arab food security. The Governor of State of Gezira, who was assigned to address the fifth session of the Legislative Council of the State, Emad AL-Din Al-Jack, congratulated the leaders of the State and the Sudanese people for lifting economic sanctions on Sudan, He Confirmed that the State will be the biggest supporter of the country’s economies, praising the success committees of the summer agricultural season and committees of emergency of autumn, in the level of the State and Localities, for their role in preventing the impacts of autumn, calling for coordination and team work to revival the State. He announced that the coming period will witness a visit from the President of the Republic to the State of Gezira, to open 240 development and service projects, which distributed to all Localities of the State, confirming the start of the State preparations for the third version of the Festival of Tourism and Shopping. In his speech, he reviewed the political and security performance and the executive performance in the different axes of work, pointing out the provision of the strategic stock of essential commodities and petroleum materials and the interest in reviewing the investment projects in implementation of the investment promotion law. He pointed out that the total space which planted by rain, this season amounted to more than 750 thousand feddans, and their priorities focusing on education services by improving the school environment and provide the needs of the educational process. He reviewed the performance in the areas of urban planning, social and cultural affairs, media, youth and sports, addressing the development projects for the year 2017. He pointed out that the projects included all localities in the State in the sectors of health, education, roads, water, electricity, agricultural, social, youth, sports, investment and industry. He pointed out that the (Government of Hope and Challenge), adopted a method of controlling and rationalizing the disbursement and government spending, directing the savings and state resources towards its objectives in achieving balanced and continuous development in all rural areas and cities of the State, attracting and following up the federal support and mobilizing popular efforts. He indicated to the number of projects in different Localities of the State, which amounted to 239 projects at a cost of 2.1 billion pounds, the plans and projects of development in the state this year aimed at addressing the problems of the human of the State in different sectors. While the Chairman of the Legislative Council of the State of Gezira, Prof. Jalal Minallah Jibril, stressed that the lifting of economic sanctions on the Sudan will be a good omen for the Sudanese economy in general and the State of Gezira in particular, that would be by the transfer of modern technologies and the provision of agricultural inputs and mechanisms that will contribute to the development of the agricultural sector, he called for concerted efforts to promote all production. He called for focusing on the plan of winter agricultural season on the projects of Gezira, Al-Rahad, and Al-Jinaid to achieve the strategic objectives of the state to replacement of imports and increase exports. He announced that the Council will work with the executive body to develop legislation and reform the laws, to beautify the work environment and investment, and to develop practical arrangements to fight corruption and spoilers in all the State bodies. Stressing their support for all decisions and directives of the State that aimed at extending security and stability, especially the decision of disarming the citizens. He called for the resolution of disputes over agricultural and residential lands especially in the villages, stressing the Council’s support for reform programs of the state agencies and implementing the outputs of the national dialogue and supporting the third phase of the country’s strategy. He praised the efforts of the Federal Government and the State Government to push development programs in the axes of health and education work, rehabilitation of infrastructure and construction of roads. He stressed the need to give priority to the provision of drinking water and the implementation of (Zero Thirst) program, focusing on the youth sector, and employment of graduates in order to fill the functions of replacement. Giving attention to productive projects and comply with the decisions of the Legislative Council to fill job vacancies to meet the shortage of teachers. Also Giving attention to improve the citizen’s pension and the development of programs and arrangements that contribute to the stability of prices and reduce the burden of living, and working to activate social support funds. The Head of the Council, stressed their interest in legislating the local government law, in order to achieve its objectives in empowering Localities and the transfer of power to the citizen in the performance of the Council, during the fourth session through 44 morning and evening sessions, the issuance of 86 substantive and procedural decisions were implemented by 96%, and reviewed the program of quintuple course aimed at serving citizens and the advancement of the State. The Acting Governor of State of Gezira, Dr. Emad Al-Din Al-Jack, congratulated Prof. Mohamed El-Sanousi, on his appointment as a Vice Chancellor of University of Gezira. He praised the efforts that have been led by the University in supporting the issues of the State, through its openness to various institutions of the University. Prof. El-Sanousi, has also received congratulations from the Legislative Council of the State of Gezira, on the occasion of receiving the confidence of President of the Republic, which resulted of appointment as a Vice Chancellor of University of Gezira. The Chairman of Council, Dr. Jalal Minallah Jibril, expressed in his speech about his sincere wishes, that the University goes forward in asserting its leadership, uniqueness and excellence at the national and academic levels, and enhancing the coordination levels with the various State bodies. The Chairman, also expressed his deep thanks and appreciation to Prof. Mohammed Warrag Omar, the former Vice Chancellor of the University, for his Great Contributions to the advancement of academic and community aspects, and his effective participation in all the State activities, through its scientific endeavours.
